Spam spam spam

Well, it looks like some spammer finally figured out how to get around my addition of previewing comments. A lot of the posts were moderated though. For a while it was nice not even having anything in the moderation. Guess I’ll get around to installing other spam prevention methods.

  1. Try AuthImage. I’ve had 100% effectiveness after installing it. Can’t say that for BlackLists and IP blockers.

  2. I’m opposed to the whole AuthImage / Captcha idea. It’s only a matter of time before enough spammers have real humans doing the work for them (all you do is copy the image over to a porn site and require the user to type the word to go on, then forward that word back to the form).

    They’re also fundamentally inaccessible.

On the positive side, they do lead to interesting research. :)

  3. They can be accessible. The one I use allows an audio download for blind. I’m not a big fan either, but I love having a spam-free blog.
