Bluetooth Encryption in Tiger?
My friend Edmund points out that the “use encryption” checkbox for Bluetooth is gone in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. It is my assumption that encryption over Bluetooth is simply always enabled in Tiger, but neither of us have found anything anywhere which specifies what the current functionality is. Edmund would be much more comfortable knowing that encryption is indeed always enabled.
Can anyone find something to confirm the current state of Bluetooth encryption in Tiger? Not the Mac OS X marketing pages which say things like “securely” when speaking about Bluetooth—we’d like direct confirmation that the packets are encrypted, either by investigating the packets or finding an official tech note from Apple somewhere.
