Logitech Announces Mouse I Asked For: Part II

Why not make a Bluetooth version of the V500 Cordless Notebook Mouse? Instead of having a USB receiver that you have to carry around in the mouse, give it a retractable USB cable for charging, and allow it to communicate wirelessly via Bluetooth when not charging. I thought we had come a long way since my days of Bluetooth Woes, but I guess not.

Me! – The Trouble with Devices

That was two days ago. Today Logitech announced the V270 mouse, which is almost exactly what I asked for! This has happened before, but I later realized that there were some gaps in my request.

I’m curious as to how this V270 mouse manages to last “up to three months” while my MX900 has difficulty last three days, and I really would prefer having some way to recharge the mouse. But this mouse actually has an off switch! And Logitech actually claims support for the built-in Bluetooth support in Mac OS X! Hooray! I think I might be picking up this mouse—that is, unless some form of Bluetooth Mighty Mouse is released before I do so.

Still, there’s a part of me that just wants an updated MX900 with an off switch and Mac OS X support from Logitech (a nice carrying case like the one that comes with the V270 would be an added bonus).
