New Electric Sheep

Dreaming of Electric SheepBill Bumgarner posted a link to a press release announcing a new Electric Sheep client (screen saver) for Mac OS X. I used to have an Electric Sheep screen saver for a while in my Linux days, and Bill says this new Mac OS X client is OpenGL based, so hopefully it won’t heat up my laptop while it’s on.

My understanding is that Electric Sheep is basically a distributed fractal generator. If that weren’t cool enough, the fractals are animated. The initial download takes a while, but after that you should have Electric Sheep in your screen saver all the time. It was good stuff a few years ago and I imagine it’s come a ways since then.
