Hey Julian,

It's been a while... time for an update! What's been up since you graduated?

Not all GameCube games do it, but some do. Same on the Wii. Typically the ones that seem to have poorer interface design do it.

If I had to venture a guess, I would bet that the SDK providers (especially Sony) require certain dialog text in certain conditions. To me the dialogs all read almost the exact same, and I know they that impose all kinds of restrictions in their SDK EULA.

Yeah, it always gets me a bit with RPGs. It's like... okay. You've just shown me a progress bar, it went to 100% and now the bar is gone. What, I need to know that the bar is gone because it finished? I can see that my location and party organization changed, right there! Or I could, if you weren't blocking my view of the stats screen with a 'Load Finished' dialogue. (Square Enix, I'm looking at you...)

Throw a dialogue up if there's an error. I don't need one on success; it's just one more button I have to press to get back where I want to be!

I was thinking of turning this blog post into a collection of photos/screenshots of all the "Saved game loaded successfully." or "Load successful." dialogs I've been seeing, but that seems like an awful lot of work, so I'll just let the readers imagine.
